    Hi,

I have an J2EE with EJB & WEB projects. Trying to rebuild all I get the following error

    “Could not resolve location,
The variable named “workspace” does not exist”

Also, trying to deploy to JBoss 3.2.1 JBoss spits an error saying there is not “application.xml”. I checked it and this it’s correct.

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

You should search in the forum before posting. 🙂

This is a known bug and can be fixed manually (until MyEclipseIDE releases fix) by bringing up the following file and changing the reference from “workspace” to “workspace_loc”.

There should be a folder under your EJB (or Web) project named .externalToolBuilders. This folder contains a single file named XDoclet Builder.launch. Make the changes I mentioned above and rebuild your project. Everything related to this error should be fixed.

You’re right, I should have searched it, sorry, I guess being new here and being a bit lost with myEclipse made rush over and make my questions.

    Thanks it works now.

    Erez,

Since you encountered this issue, you’re obviously using version 3.6.2 on MyEclipse on the Eclipse M3 build. We really discourage use of this version for new users and for production use because the Eclipse 3.0 interfaces are still greatly in flux. MyEclipse 2.6.2 on Eclipse 2.1.1 is really the best configuration for an introduction to MyEclipse. It is for this reason that we don’t allow download of the 3.6.2 build to anyone but registered subscribers.

Up to now I was working with JBuilder 8 EE for a full J2EE application comprised of EJB,Struts/JSTL over JBoss+Tomcat 3.2.1 and MySQL as the database. Will the 2.6.2 be sufficiant? Could you point out some of the major differences between the 2.6.2 and 3.6.2 as far of working with the infrastructures in my project?

There are absolutely know feature differences between 2.6.2 and 3.6.2 of MyEclipse. We simply keep the major version number in sync with the version of Eclipse that it is designed to run on. Since Eclipse 3.0 is a big rewrite of major portions of Eclipse, it is by nature rather unstable at this point which is why we recommend the 2.1.1/2.6.2 configuration.
