    Hello,

I seem to be having a problem with the video player. I created a video with Camtasia for teaching purposes and then sized it using Camtasia to 480×360 as recommended by the website to play cross-platform (http://www.genuitec.com/mobile/docs/encodingVideo/encodingVideo.html). When I play the video I get the attached image. Sometimes the player works fine, but mostly it only plays audio with no video. I cannot click “Done” and exit so I have to hit the home button, then double click the home button and close the program by clicking the minus sign and then open it again to get it working.

The devices I tried this on are the ipod touch 4th Gen and iPAD 3rd Gen.

    MobiOne version: 2.3.1

I created an iOS file (*.ipa) and downloaded it through the email link sent to me. When I run it over the air with the link that anyone can use, it seems to work fine since it is using the apple device player? Not sure, is that why?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hello Octavio or any support member,

I understand you may be busy, but would please let me have an idea of when you may address this issue? I was looking forward to submitting my app to the app store this weekend.

    Thank you.

    Hi profroofs,

can you share an example project that demonstrates the issue? If no please at least share the video for us to test with. Also what version of iOS is running on these devices? If you want to keep data in privacy please send us your files to support at genuitec dot com, use title mobione data from profroofs

    Hello Octavio,

I sent an email about a week ago on the 14th to the email you wrote support at genuitec dot com with the title MobiOne Data from ProfRoofs. Just wanted to make sure it was received since this is the last piece of help I need before submitting my app to the apple store that many people are waiting on. Thank you!

    Hi profroofs,

We’ve checked your video and it works just fine when:
    – attached as a file to the app (File video source in Video widget)
    – uploaded to the server with correct Content-Type settings (video/mp4)
It doesn’t work when uploaded e.g. to dropbox and other similar services, because they don’t provide correct Content-Type HTTP header.

Since we’re using build-in (native) player to play video streams (http://...) and there is no way to influence its behavior we recommend you to:
    – check your web server setting for content type of *.mp4 files
    – check internet connection speed (if video accessed from internet there might be a significant delay before it start to play)
    – make a couple of simple (one page) test apps with single video player to identify the problem

Please let us know is this helps,

    Cheers

Thank you for the reply, but it is still not working for me and I am not sure why.

I tried to “attach as a file to the app (File video source in Video widget)” and used the same video I sent you and said worked.

I tried your suggestion and made “a couple of simple (one page) test apps with single video player to identify the problem” and still got the same problem.

Question: Do I need to go to the home screen and go to “Additional Project Files” and add the *.mp4 video or only attach it to the video widget? I followed the step by step suggestions from the website and made a “videos” folder where the widget is linked to the video file.

All I keep getting is the audio with no video. If I try it about 10 times, maybe one of those times I will get BOTH video and audio. I even tried using Miro instead of Camtasia to convert the video and still get the same result. Any basic or complex steps you can think that I did not do? It is weird that sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.

I tried to attached to Apple TV and the video pops up on apple tv with the audio.

When I run the app with a link that MobiOne creates the video works fine, but I want the video to be accessed off-line, without internet, for students to learn from on the go. It’s a bit frustrating, as programming is, but I am hoping to get it out soon to students.

Looking forward to your reply. Is there any way I can call you guys and maybe walk-through on the phone? You can try to download any of my YouTube videos and try them in the player (http://www.youtube.com/user/ProfRoofs).

    Thanks,

    Hi again,

can you please do the following:
    – update MobiOne to 2.3.2 (Menu Help -> Check for updates)
    – download this zip file https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7265609/video_test_12.zip, it have mobi file and your video file
    – build this for iOS, install to your device and test

Works ok for us on iPhone 4S iOS 6.1.3 and iPod 4G iOS 6.1.3

    Hello Aleksey,

Thank you for the continued support. I think I found a few bugs with the video player widget and I don’t know if others found this also, unless I am doing something wrong. I did all you recommended (update to MobiOne 2.3.2) and some things worked, but others had problems. I did not update to iOS 6.1.3, but I am using 6.1.2 (could that be the problem?) on ipod touch 4G.

I built a one screen app with only a video widget and a short video I recorded. You can download the zip file here with the video: http://www.profroofs.com/MobiOne/Test4-one_screen_video.zip

Issue #1) So the video plays fine, but if you fast forward to the end or wait until the end, the video widget gets stuck and you can not exit without clicking the home button on the ipod/iphone. Here is a link to some screen shot photos (http://www.profroofs.com/MobiOne/videoissuesphotos.zip) that are also attached, so you can see the video playing fine with just the one screen, but when it gets to the end the buttons (rewind, play, etc.) on the bottom change and clicking “Done” does not let you exit. The only way to exit is to double click the “Home” button of the ipod/iphone and click the red minus at the bottom.

Issue #2) If I use a multipage widget and on one page put a button that takes you to a separate screen and try to play the video from there, then it will not work (only audio, but no video). I found this was the original problem I had. Once I put all the videos on one page of the multipage widget they all played, but all still had the same issue that you can not exit once it is over, only during the video playing you can exit. I can send a zip file and screen shots of this also if you wish also.

Hope you can help me out, almost there and getting closer! Thanks!

One more thing to add on. If you fast forward a video to let’s say about 10 seconds left in the video and let it play, as expected, the buttons at the bottom disappear for better viewing. However, once the video ends then you get a black screen with no buttons to even push to try and exit. Again, I love MobiOne and look forward to all the work you are putting into it!

    Hello,

It’s been a little over a week and just checking back in if anyone is working on this bug (if it is one) or if you are busy at the moment. My program is all complete and waiting to be submitted to the store once this issue is resolved. In this past week I was able to run the program on an Android device (Nexus 7) and the video player ran smoothly. It started perfect with both audio and video and when it was over it exited properly. However, on apple devices it will not as mentioned in the previous two posts. Please let me know what you find.

    Thank you,
    +prof roofs

    Hi profroofs,

We are investigating if an upgrade to our runtime environment will resolve this. We hope to know something in a few days once we have an internal version to test.

    Octavio,

Thanks for the info. I figured I’d wait a little over a week to check back on the progress. I notice under downloads it is still the April 24 2.3.2 version. Any rough idea how long I should wait before checking back again? A week? Two weeks? Just very psyched to release my first app of hopefully many. I know you guys are working hard over there and I appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    Hello support team,

It is now over a month a few weeks after and I haven’t heard back from anyone on this issue.

Is there something you need from me that I have not included? I understand all of you work hard as do I. I am in medical school and many people are waiting for the release of my app to help them around the world in their studies. I just informed them it is ready but still waiting on the software developer to fix a bug with their video player.

I will send a follow up email from my email: mailto:profroofs@gmail.com

    Thank you,
    Prof. Roofs

    Hi profroofs,

Thank you for your patience and for help with issue identification. We’ve made a fix for that, it will be available in development build shortly (late today/tomorrow). We will provide access details when the release is ready.

    Cheers
