douglasvMemberI just installed myEclipseide for the first time: 2-21-07
The complete package:( version 5.1.0-GA)
The welcome window has icons for various Subjects: Overview, Tutorials, etc ; When clicked, takes me to a page with
icons offering specific information,” but”, almost all of these icons offer me a “Blank” pop-up pagefor example, Overview -> MyEclipse user interface tools ->comes up with a Blank Page?, as do others???
How can I fix this?

Riyad KallaMemberThat blank window is actually a browser window that should display the Help system in it (topics on the left, content on the right layout). If you aren’t seeing that, try restarting MyEclipse using the -clean command line argument and try again. It’s possible that the help system isn’t starting up, so you are just seeing the blank window.

cd c:\eclipse
c:\eclipse>eclipse.exe -cleaneclipse starts, then trying the icons leads to empty pop-up pages
tried: Overview: then MyEclipse user interface tools,(comes up blank)
MyEclipse Business Services , (comes up blank) so do all the others)
This is from the (“WELCOME PAGE”)February 21, 2007 at 12:02 pm #266436
Riyad KallaMemberVery strange. Can you go to Help > Contents and get help to popup normally? It uses the same help system… so if that isn’t launching either, then there is something fishy going on.

Riyad KallaMemberYou can double check your subscription information under MyEclipse > Update Subscription…
Make sure that it’s valid.
Also, try this please. File > Switch Workspace. Then enter in a new directory that doesn’t exist (e.g. C:\tempworkspace) and hit OK to restart. After that, try Help > Contents, does that work?

Riyad KallaMemberOk this sounds like an installation problem. I would like to try a “clean room” situation and see if that works.
Can you go to our download section of our site, and download the MyEclipse 5.1.0 All-In-One installer. Then run the installer and install it to a new directory that doesn’t exist. After that, fire up the install and open your existing workspace and then try Help > Contents. Did that work?
February 21, 2007 at 3:21 pm #266474
douglasvMemberI will try that, my workspace was never used, c:\Eclipse_Projects
I finally got an error message: “Help Error: Help cannot be displayed the embedded application server could not run help
webapplication check the log for detailsFebruary 21, 2007 at 3:46 pm #266477
douglasvMemberI did another download and install to a new directory “EEclipseEE” and the results are the same

douglasvMemberI installed with all default settings — Now the welcome window and all it’s icons produce a document
What I did earlier was select “C:\” as the install directory; it seems your code is “HardWired” for c:\Program Files;
even though it recognized the directory before installing , the code didn’t tell it’s community about the new locationFebruary 21, 2007 at 4:50 pm #266483
Riyad KallaMemberI will file this for someone to investigate. Thank you for reporting your findings, it sounds like something fishy is happening.

douglasvMemberOOOOPs its not over, From the Welcome page , I clicked what’s new, then I clicked Myeclipse Enterprise Workbench
and a pop-up box appeared: “Please insert a disk into the drive: there is no disk in the drive, Please insert a disk in the drive”
I couldn’t get rid of the pop-up, then , ctrl-alt-deleteing ,another pop-up box last line reported:JVM Terminated Exit Code = 1073807364
this is a hp with a amd athlon 64×2 dual core on a “32 bit system”
what do I do now?

Riyad KallaMemberI have no idea where that warning is coming from or even why it’s popping up. I’ve tried to reproduce this issue on a Windows XP Pro machine, Ubuntu 6.06 and 6.10 machine and asked one of our Mac developers to try it on his Mac, and none of us have seen this behavior. We are all using default clean installs with clean workspaces.
Can you check your log file for anything telling?
