Scott AndersonParticipantJoel,
Good points.
Btw, when do you think the Linux is going to be ready for a peak.
Absolutely no later than 7/15. I’ll be pressuring folks today for some status.

I know this is OT for this thread, but, EW!
You mean constant security holes, allowing carte-blanche to pop-up ads, and no tabbed browsing is more “polished”? Everytime I’m forced to use IE, I feel like I’ve stepped back in time.
Go ahead and download those security patches where the license gives MS the “right” to snoop your computer. Download the pop-up blockers that install their own spyware. You still wont have a solution for things like tabbed browsing and mouse gestures.
“More polished”, my ass.
More likely you are just more accustomed to it from years of use. There is a 12 step program to help you and users like you.

Scott AndersonParticipantDan,
Perhaps a description and link to a better browser would be helpful to other interested in the topic.

MyEclipse SupportThe assertion was that IE is more polished than its Linux counterparts, and I vehemently disagree. I’m sure Linux users know their alternatives. If you are *stuck* with Windows, try:
Mozilla-Firebird: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firebird/
K-Meleon: http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/
Opera: http://www.opera.com/There may be others. IANAWU, so I don’t spend much time looking.

Joel Rosi-SchwartzMemberscott,
If I understand the expalanation properly, the delivery problem seems to only effect upgrades. Would it be possible then to give the interested Linux users early access to the GA for testing?
Thanks,

Scott AndersonParticipantJoel,
I expected to hear from the Linux camp. 🙂 Actually, releasing the Linux release a little early has already come up internally. Unfortunately, the same resources that put the releases together are also working the upgrade issue. However, there is considerable pressure from “above” to accelerate the Linux delivery for just the reason you suggest.
