Is there a time lag from when someone purchases a subscription until it sais ‘registered member’ next to the name?

Also, what are the stars next to some names of posters?

Nat,

Typically forum ranks are updated on a weekly bases. However, we are revising the rank logic given some of the changes made to the group membership system. Ranks should be updated over the weekend.

The number of stars correspond the number of years a subscriber.
