I am trying ti migrate an existing project over to MyEclipse and when I attempt to conver t over [Workshop] I get the following error:

Package names should end with “.ejb” to be compatible with standard XDoclet configurations.

The bad part is the XDoclet generation does not generate the interface methods, etc. because of this problem.

This also occurs in 3.8.4, I think it has to do with the XDoclet build file as I see the following:

I went into the Standard EJB doclet and removed this from the configuration and it still did not work. What is going on with the crazy thing?

Okay, I think I may started to figure it out, that if the BEAN class does not end in Bean, then it expects the files to be in the ejb package. If the BEAN ends with Bean then it works just fine in any package. Not sure I like this, but I can live with it for now.

Riyad, I think I figure it out as the post above implies. You have to post fix the Bean with the Bean and that seems to resolve it. It is kind of a weird thing, but I guess it works. It would be nice if this error message did not come up though. Plus some insturcitons on how to eliminate the need to post fix Bean on the end.

The reason that we recommend you use .ejb. as the package prefix is so that the packageSubsitution task can correctly generate your interfaces in their own .interfaces. package.

Consider the example of a EJB implementation file called Person.java. If you are going to generate a remote interface for this class, it will too be called Person.java. If you don’t have package substitution configured, XDoclet will try to generate the new Person.java and will stop because one already exists. But if you have packageSubstitution enabled, them a foo.ejb.Person bean class will generate foo.interfaces.Person class. Thus, no conflict.

I hope this helps explain the logic behind this. I hope you got everything figured out. If you didn’t let us know and we can try to sort it out. Sorry for the confusion.
