LofiParticipantI try to add a custom component to the WindowBuilder palette, but it doesn’t show up. I don’t see an error. And I have “show debug information in console” active, but the console doesn’t show anything at all. Can someone please point me to the correct logfile? Previous errors where in the .log in metadata, but this problem doesn’t show up.
Version: MyEclipse 2013 SR2
Thank you for your help!
edit: Found the bug: the .gif files that were associated with the java component were corrupt. After deleting the .gif files the components could be added to the palette. Of course it would have been nice to see this problem in some log.

support-pradeepMemberLofi,
Glad that you resolved the issue. To help us replicate the issue at our end and investigate further, can you please attach a sample project which exhibits this issue ?

LofiParticipantSee attachment. I created:
* MyFrame.java: to this palette I want to add my component
* MyComponent.java AND MyComponent.gif (which is empty, i. e. 0 Bytes, i. e. corrupt)
* MyComponentWorking.java the same way I created MyComponent.java, but without the corrupt gifIf you switch to MyFrame’s WindowBuilder Design tab and try to add MyComponent to the palette, then you won’t see it on the palette. Adding MyComponentWorking however gets added to the palette.
Is there some kind of log where I can look?

support-pradeepMemberLofi,
Thanks for the details provided.
The errors that occurred during parsing are shown under ‘Designer Editor Errors’ window. You can go to this window by clicking on the ‘Open error log’ icon in the design editor. Please see the attached screenshot for a visual reference.
Hope this helps.

LofiParticipantThank you. It does help. But it’s buggy. The button was disabled after the errors occurred. At some point later (minutes!) it was enabled magically. No idea what I clicked to make it enabled. It was also disabled in my initial tests, so that’s why I never considered it later.

support-pradeepMemberLofi,
The ‘Open error log’ is not enabled by default, it is enabled only when errors occur during parsing or executing current compilation unit.
You can check this by switching to a new workspace and import your project in to new workspace. Open MyFrame in Window builder editor and switch to design tab. At this moment, you can observe that ‘Open error log’ is disabled. Click on ‘Choose component’ and select ‘MyComponent’ and click Ok. ‘Unable to load component’ error dialog appears. In that dialog, if you click ‘Yes’ – the editor will be refreshed and the ‘Open error log’ is enabled. Else, if you click ‘No’ – the editor will not be refreshed and ‘Open error log’ is still disabled.
Hope this helps and let us know if you find any issues in MyEclipse.
