I know from messages here that there are issues with XML Buddy Pro and the other XML editors (JSP Designers, etc.), not working properly in MyE — at least this was the case a few months ago.
So, my questions are:
1. Does the current release of XML Buddy 2.0.75 (same as a few months ago when problems were reported) now work with MyE due to fixes (modifications) in MyE?
2. If the answer to question 1 is “No”, then are there other plug-in tools that Genuitec knows about that will generate XML Schemas from an XML File?

In short, we don’t know because we don’t test with XML Buddy. However, MyEclipse 5.1.1 is built on the latest Eclipse 3.2.2 stack and is fully backward compatible with all frameworks. So, if XML Buddy runs on Eclipse 3.2.2 is should run well on MyEclipse 5.1.1. BTW, in 5.1.1 we made it made it a high-priority to ensure this level of compatibility so other products can run well on MyEclipse so if you haven’t tried that configuration it’s worth a retry.

I already feel like a beta tester with just about every piece of software I use these days <s>
Maybe there’s an XML tool you have tested?
It would be nice if MyE knew how to generate schemas on its own, given an XML file, but I’m not sure how popular that feature would be relative to your other development priorities.

I understand completely as I like my environments nice and stable too. It looks like the problem with XML Buddy is that the developer has failed to keep it updated as Eclipse API’s change. On their main page it shows the following: “XMLBuddy and XMLBuddy Pro 2.0 support Eclipse 2.1 through 3.1M7”. 3.1M7 was about 2 years ago and a lot has changed in the frameworks since then. I wouldn’t expect it to run on Eclipse 3.2.2, for example.

Hopefully that doesn’t include us. We do our level best to make sure our entire stack works properly with each release. 🙂

Only our included XML support. Given our large install base, most vendors certify on MyEclipse at some level at this point and we work with them to ensure compatibility when contacted.

Cool feature, and one I’ve occasionally wanted myself. You might try the Oxygen XML editor for Eclipse, but it costs quite a bit. XMLSpy might be another option, but is pricey as well.
