I’m trying to use Install Updates to add the CR plugin. I receive the following error message:
Crystal Reports for Eclipse (2.0.4.r825) requires feature “org.eclipse.platform (3.4.0)”, or compatible.
I have tried searching for updates to currently installed features and there are no updates found.
How do I update the platform to v3.4.0?
    Thanks,
    Tony

    Tony,

Let me clarify the MyEclipse doesn’t provide any intrinsic support for CR Plugin. Please refer – http://myeclipseide.com/module-htmlpages-display-pid-1.html . Can you answer few queries for me to get to the root cause?
    1. Can you copy and paste your installation details? Open MyEclipse IDE, from menu options click on MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details
    2. Can you share a weblink of CR Plugin?
    3. How did you add the said plugin? Using Help > Software Updates > Add/Remove Software > Add > Add Site? If yes, can you share the update site
    4. Or did you copy and paste the plugin to [your myeclipse installation dir]/dropins/plugins dir?
    5. Have you verified that the said plugin is compatible to the base eclipse of installed ME version? For e.g. if you are ME 6.x, the base eclipse is 3.3, whereas if you are on 7.5, base eclipse is 3.4.2, in case you are on ME 8.0, the base eclipse is 3.5.1.

If you have veririfed the said plugin is compatible, I would recommend you a quick fix using pulse. Follow below mentioned steps –
    1. Open pulse. If you don’t have pulse, download the same from http://www.poweredbypulse.com
    2. Login to pulse. You can also login anonymously.
    3. Choose the relevant eclipse realm from the top left hand corner dropdown
    4. From MyProfiles select your MyEclipse version
    5. Right click on MyEclipse version and from the context menu click on [Re-install and run]
Pulse will automatically detect any dependency issues.

In case the plugin is not compatible, please remove the same from your MyEclipse profile and restart your IDE.

    Hope this helps.

    Tony,
What is the version of MyElipse that you are using? Can you copy paste your installation details from MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details.
MyEclipse does not provide any intrinsic support for crystal reports. Crystal Reports 2 is based on Eclipse 3.4.1 (http://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/crystal-reports-eclipse-20) so the MyEclipse versions that you can use are 7.5(Base Eclipse 3.4.2) or 8.0(Base Eclipse 3.5.1)
Also, you cannot upgrade directly from any previous version of MyEclipse. You should do a fresh install. The downloads are available at http://www.myeclipseide.com/module-htmlpages-display-pid-4.html

    Joy and Shalini,
I didn’t realize that the Eclipse version was tied to the MyEclipse version. Upgrading to ME 7.5 or 8.0 should take care of the problem.
Thank you both for your help.

    Tony,

Yes, MyEclipse is built on top of eclipse. You can try with ME 7.5/8.0 and give it a shot.
