    chedderslam,
Can you give some more information?
    1. What is the version of MyEclipse that you are trying to install?
    2. Do you have any previous versions of MyEclipse Installed?
    3. How are you trying to install MyEclipse? using all-in-one installer/pulse ?
Can you try doing a clean install? The following are the steps –
    1. Make sure MyEclipse Install Directory has been completely removed, if any.
2 Pulse Install Directory, on XP it’s under C:\Program Files in \Pulse or \Genuitec, and on Vista it’s under \AppData\Local and then under \Pulse or \Genuitec again
    3. Then make sure the pulse2.locator file under is erased as well
    Now try installing MyEclipse.
You can also refer to the following post for further reference – https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/error-preparing-installer-message/
Let me know if that helps.

I ran into this problem with the MyEclipse 8.5 installer. The solution was to run the installer as Administrator (right-click > Run as Administrator). It would be nice for the MyEclipse installer to work with UAC to get a privilege-elevation prompt instead of a cryptic error message.

    timbonicus,
    Thank you for the resolution.

I shall escalate this to the dev team.
