PaulMemberHi,
Error message on log: invalid activation-data in license file; activation is invalidated.
Looks like I am having a licensing problem.
First of all, I am the only user in my environment, running only one eclipse instance at a time. I’m *NOT* trying to violate the license. This is the situation (running on Linux).
Installed eclipse/myeclipse as user U1 on machine M1 (my desktop).
Activated (did that in september 2011 or so).
Then, run eclipse/myeclipse as user U2 on machine M1 (copied the ~U1/.myeclipse.properties to ~U2/.myeclipse.properties).
All ok so far.Now I also install in machine M2 (my laptop).
Same setup: install as user U1 and run as user U2 and copy .myeclipse.properties from M1 (desktop).
All still ok.Now I upgrade Machine M2 (laptop) installation to 9.1.
I do this as user U1.
Works when I run eclipse as user U1.
The problem appears when I start eclipse as user U2.I see this message on the log: invalid activation-data in license file; activation is invalidated.
I saw these posts but that did not help. :
https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/multi-user-setup-myeclipse/&highlight=licence+license+linux
https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/multiple-users-on-linux-box/&highlight=licence+license+linuxThen I tried to install eclipse 3.7 + myeclipse 10 as user U2 on machine M2 (laptop).
When I run eclipse as user U2 now, it comes with a dialog to activate. Can you advise me how to get this working again ?
I want to install as user U1 and run as user U2 ( and this on 2 machines), only one eclipse active at any time. This always worked until now 🙁Attachments:

support-joyMemberPaulBue,
The license and activation rule in MyEclipse has changed to stop unlawful usage and pilfering. I would recommend you refer – https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/installation-installing-myeclipse-on-vista-and-windows-7/ and https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/activation-activating-your-installation/
I have also escalated your issue to dev team member. They would get back to you on this.
Sorry for the inconvenience.December 19, 2011 at 10:14 pm #321848
support-tonyKeymasterPaul,
When you got a message to activate, as user U2, did you try to activate? This should work OK. Have you run MyEclipse, using MyEclipse features, as U1 on M2, after you upgraded M2? I might have expected an activation failure, depending on the upgrade, so it wasn’t surprising that U2 had a problem.
But try activating again and let us know what happens.

PaulMemberTony,
User U1 on machine M2 worked after the upgrade. I did not need to re-activate.
When I run as user U2 (note that the eclipse files are owned by user U1) on machine M2, I get the license error message on the log as mentioned in my initial post.As mentioned in my initial post, I also installed as user U2 on machine M2. When I run eclipse/myeclipse as user U2 then, I get the activation dialog.
I did not (yet) activate as U2 on machine M2 (although eclipse/myeclipse comes up with a dialog to activate). I will run the activate for U2 on machine M2 and let you know the result.Kind regards.

PaulMemberTony,
I have activated myeclipse (owned by user U2 on machine M2) and it works now.
Also user U1 on machine M2 still works.
I was initially a bit afraid that activating again (myeclipse was already activated months ago) would leave me with a non working installation. This is apparently not the case. Both users have now a different .myeclipse.properties file and I have 2 eclipse/myeclipse installations on machine M2: one owned by user U1 and one owned by user U2.
A bit a pity that for some reason user U1 and U2 cannot share the same installation, but it is an acceptable solution in my case.
Thanks for your help.

support-tonyKeymasterPaul,
I’m glad that’s working for you now. I suspect that the user is one aspect of the activation code that is generated for the installation, so two users would not be able to use the same activation code, even though, in your case, they are the same physical person.
Thanks for letting us know the resolution.
