When I hover my mouse over a variable, the tooltip shows correctly. However, when I press F2 to set focus to it, the background is white and the text is hard to read.

    ryan,

Sorry that you are seeing this issue. Thank you for the screenshots.
I could not replicate the problem at my end with Eclipse Oxygen for C/C++. Attached is the screenshot of the tool tip I see at my end on Windows 10.

Can you please clarify if you are using Windows Classic theme (System wide)?

I don’t believe I am using anything but the default windows theme. How can I verify which theme I am using? It seems the windows theme dialog is no longer available on windows 10.

I believe I have resolved this issue. I went to Preferences -> C/C++ -> Editor -> ‘Source hover background’ and checked the ‘System Default’ checkbox. The color now shows as a dark gray.

    Hi,

I have the same problem (I use the Windows dark theme), and Preferences -> C/C++ -> Editor -> ‘Source hover background’ set to ‘System Default’ works, but it is set back to default each time I restart Eclipse.
Is there a way to keep this option to ‘System Default’ ?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I see the problem with ‘System Default’ setting not being persisted on restart with Eclipse 2020-03. I have filed a report with the dev team to look into it. We will keep you posted when the fix is out.

    Apologies for inconvenience caused.
